Estelle F Bailey

Estelle F. Bailey was born in the State of Georgia on July 1, 1908. When she was a baby, Estelle and her parents moved from Georgia to New Jersey, where she grew up. In her young adult years, Estelle worked as a professional singer and dancer. She and Buster Brown worked in many clubs in New York City. Later on, Estelle moved to Albany, where she spent the rest of her life. She worked at a few jobs, the most recent being her position as a lobby monitor for Albany Housing Authority from 1990 to 2011. In January 2009 at the funeral of one of her dear friends, Genenieve Pressley, Estelle received Jesus Christ as her personal savior and Lord of her life at Walking The Walk Christian Center. Soon after, she became a faithful member of Walking The Walk. Sunday morning was always a time when Estelle would open the morning meeting with prayer. An excellent singer, Estelle quickly learned all the new songs that were introduced to her. At Christmas time, she was a delight to everyone with her singing of "Silent Night". She served the Jesus who she knew to the best of her ability. When she could no longer walk, she came to church in her wheelchair. Her last years were years of praise to her Lord. In addition to her parents, Estelle was predeceased by her daughter Frances Moore and a grandson Gregory Bailey. She is survived by her grandchildren John G. Leek III, Karen Estelle Leek and Patricia Cassandra Leek, all of New Jersey; a dear friend Johertha Lynah of Cottageville, South Carolina; her church family at Walking The Walk Christian Center and a host of friends, relatives and loved ones. We give a special thank you to the staff at Hudson Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to the Konicek and Collett Funeral Home, LLC
