Richard D. Littlejohn

Richard D. Littlejohn Watervliet – Richard D. “Rick” Littlejohn passed away suddenly on June 21, 2020. Rick was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Ann Sheehy Littlejohn and was employed by Albany Memorial Hospital as a Sergeant on the security midnight staff. Rick was the brother of Ryne Littlejohn, Renee (Mark) McNames, Randy Littlejohn, Raymond (Donna) Littlejohn and Patricia (Mario) Longo; brother in-law of Sandra Littlejohn, loving uncle to several nieces and nephews including Sheila (Timothy) Benedetti, Cody Trembly, Cera (Ben) Norris and Rae`an Littlejohn. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Marge Littlejohn, Barbara Collett, Ann (Bob) Fredette and Bryan (Laurel) Sheehy as well as many cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother John Littlejohn and several aunts and uncles in the Littlejohn and Sheehy families. Rick was devoted to his family and his loss is heartbreaking. Devotion to his country and our flag were so important to Rick. A lifelong fan of the Grateful Dead, Rick always had time for a road trip to see them perform. Most importantly, Rick was a kind and gentle soul, the kind of person that you do not meet often. If you knew Rick you were blessed. Go out and share a random act of kindness in Rick’s memory. Rick was interred in Memory Gardens with his beloved parents. At Rick’s request, all services were private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, 245 West Houston Street, RM 204 New York, NY 10014, would be appreciated.

You do not know us. we are Rick & Cathy Littlejohn. Some of our friends and family heard that Rick had passed away and thought it was our Rick. There was much sadness thinking it was my husband, After reading the obituary of Rick, it sounds a lot like my Rick. I know there must be great sadness in your family to loose such a wonderful person. I am praying for you and your families. I felt that God would have wanted you to know that you are being prayed for. God Bless!

Randy I am devastated at the passing of your brother Rick. What a gentle soul and my friend. He often stopped to my house after ten years of living at my home in Green Island. Such a wonderful soul Maureen Clifford

Rick, You were a great friend. May you Rest In Peace reunited with your mother. I will always remember the great times we had at the hospital like playing baseball in the hallway and our ball made of tape hit the fire alarm at 2am ( Boy was the AFD mad) and the time we drank the 22 Starbucks coffees. When I would bring an inmate to the hospital I knew if you were there because you always seen if we needed anything. I wish you Peace brother
