Stavros Thomaides

Thomaides, Stavros Thomaides, Stavros - Latham - Stavros Thomaides, 83, passed away on Sunday April 30, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Kavala, Greece, Stavros came to the United States in 1972 with his family to realize the American dream. He apprenticed at the age of 12 and became a Master tailor, employed by many area retail stores. Stavros proudly served in the Greek Air Force from 1951 - 1953. He is the beloved husband of 50 years to Georgia Thomaides: devoted father of Maria (Jason) Stanco and George (Rosemarie) Thomaides all of Niskayuna. He is the cherished "Papou" of Michael, Katerina, Steven and Sophia. Many nieces, nephews and extended family in Greece also survive . Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Konicek & Collett Funeral Home, LLC 1855 12th Avenue, Watervliet, today, Wednesday from 4-7 pm. The Trisagion Service will be conducted at 6:45 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10:00 am at St Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 909 River Street, Troy. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church in memory of Stavros Thomaides.
