Stephen Galusha

Stephen C. Galusha, passed away on March 29, 2017 with his loving wife, Jackie (Macomber) Galusha at his side. They shared 55 years of marriage. He was the son of the late George E. and Marjorie (Cary) Galusha. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Patty (Tony) Ravida, Debbie (Mal) Trombley and Michael (Ron Olsen) Galusha; seven granddaughters Karie (John Brady) Ravida, Leanne Ravida, Brittany (Tom Raate) King, Nikki (Daniel) Bateman, Mikayla Trombley, Meagan (Jared Barrett) Trombley and Morgann Trombley. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Doris Macomber, sister-in-law Sandy (Anne Ray) Macomber, brother-in-law Don (Betsy) Macomber as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stephen was predeceased by his father-in-law, John Macomber. Born May 30, 1941 in Cambridge, New York, his family moved from Greenwich, New York, to Latham, New York. He attended Watervliet High School and Shaker High School where he was the first to hold the office of class president. An avid fan of the New York Yankees, RPI hockey and the New York Rangers, he was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He easily made friends with everyone he met. Stephen worked for 40 years with Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield and later retired from CDPHP. He was famous in his family for his witty quips and quotes such as "where there is fuzz, there is boil", "MOOOOOOOOSE!!!!!", "WSNC! (white socks, no class)" and "Yes, I am god. Now get me a piece of cake". Steve also came up with great stories and articles such as Potchie, North Canadian Pink tailed Wabisabis, Icky Goo, NERD SPLOT, Stinky Feet, and Superman versus Fred. Steve's favorite thing to do was calling Jackie "Beautiful Beautiful" every morning and singing/whistling his own song (co-written by Jackie) "Peenie Weenie"! Steve loved going on vacations with Jackie including trips to Maine and Myrtle Beach. They took a trip of a lifetime when they traveled to England, Scotland and Wales. One of his best vacations came when they took a cruise to Alaska. Donald Duck, he would say, was one of his "idols" and loved talking like him at random moments. He tended to converse back and forth with his son, Mike in "Donald Duck". Steve had been active in the past with the Elks and did work to raise awareness of Juvenile Diabetes. True to form, with his upbeat nature and love of life, he wished for his family and friends to remember him by having a drink in his honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Fund 950 New Loudon Road, #330, Latham NY 12110 would be appreciated.

Jackie: I was so sorry to read of Steve's passing. Although we hadn't seen each other in a number of years, I still cherish the memories of the good times we shared. He was a great guy. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Dean Schermerhorn

Catherine and I would like to express our sympathy for Steve's family. I knew Steve a while back at work and his daughter Patty lived across the street. Our children were very good friends. We would often see Steve when he visited his grandchildren. Steve was always pleasant and so happy to spend time with his family. May God embrace him in Heaven. Greg & Catherine, Alexander, Stefan and Conrad.
