Alyce Jacalyn Cate Ferreel

Menands - The family of Alyce Jacalyn (Jackie) Cate (Ferrell), age 71, of Albany, NY, sadly announces her death on January 4, 2022 of cancer. She was born September 29th, 1950 in Dubuque, IA, graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, and received a business degree from the University of Texas.

Jackie enjoyed a 30-year career at International SEMATECH as Standards Program Manager. She served in numerous volunteer positions in the industry standards development organization, SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International), including Chair of SEMI North America, South Korea, Taiwan, and China. She was awarded the Japan International Friendship Award and the Karl Urbanek Award, the highest honor bestowed on SEMI volunteers. Her best reward was the lifelong friendships she shared with her international extended family. She led an active life and enjoyed traveling, water skiing, landscaping, bicycling, home remodeling, and reading. Her greatest joy and love of her life were her sons, Thomas and Tim.

Jackie will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her husband, Gregory Ferrell; her sons Thomas Marsh (Laura Andrea Leguia), and Timothy Marsh; granddaughter Laura Elena Marsh-Leguia; siblings Charles Cate (Rebecca), Cheryl Bettels (Jürgen), James Cate (Connie), Mona Hesseling (Edward), Kim Cate (Gary); her aunt Grace Schnorenberg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her death is preceded by her parents, Edward Cate and Alice Cate, and siblings Judith Cate (Eichhorn) and Thomas Cate.

The family suggests donations to a local animal shelter or the World Wildlife Fund in remembrance. Services were held privately.

"Words cannot ease your pain and sense of loss, but know that I lived a life full of joy, love and laughter, and having you in my life made it that way. Don't be sad. Remember a life well lived and loved. Be kind." Online condolences at Konicekandcollettfuneralhome.com.
