Chester V. Ret of Rensselaer passed away peacefully on Saturday July 4th, 2026, in the Samuel Stratton Veterans Hospital in Albany. Son of the late Victor and Guerrina Fornari Ret.

Formerly of Albany where he lived for most of his life and a veteran of the United States Navy, Chester was enlisted and was honorably discharges in the 1960's. Chester was an avid hunter and a fisherman and belonged to the Albany rod and gun club where he was a lifelong member. he also enjoyed his motorcycle and the adventures that ensued while riding his motorcycle. Additionally, he was an amateur ham radio operator. 

Chester is survived by his daughters Victoria (Eric) and Sandra (Stephen); his grandchildren, Dylan (Kathleen), Dr. Gemma (Rouhai), Blake, and Sierra, Troy and Mia; his great grandchildren Axel, Jude, Sully and Bastian.  Additionally, Chester is survived by his brother Leo Ret and sister Dana (Eddy) Wacksman. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a committal service in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Wednesday July at 15th 12:30pm. Anyone wishing to attend should arrived at the Cemetery at 12:15pm through the main entrance where a funeral cortege will be assembled to ride to the committal shelter together.

Chester's family wishes to thank the staff of the Albany VA hospital for their kindness and compassion throughout Chester's care. Additionally, the family would like to thank Kathy English.
