David A. Gonzalez Esq.of Latham passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, at the age of 53. Son of Diana Reyes and Hiram Gonzalez. Longtime partner of Panagiota, whom David shared the last few years with happily.

David's professional journey began in Prisoner's Legal Aid for Hispanic inmates. During that time, he worked on enacting a law for upper NYS which guaranteed due process for all inmates. He continued on doing some private practice in the Albany region as a defense attorney. David had an extensive legal history in public service with the City of Albany Corporate Counsel's Office, the Albany County District Attorney's Office & the Schenectady County Districts Attorney's Office.

In 2018, he started working in the Dept of State a Senior Deputy Counsel where he assisted the General Counsel by providing operational oversight, high level strategy & specialized guidance across the department's diverse divisions and also advised senior leadership, including the Secretary of State.

Above and beyond his many professional accomplishments, David's greatest pride and deepest love was reserved for his family. He was a devoted and loving father whose children were the center of his world.

In addition to David's parents, he is survived by his children; Darien, Xavier, Dante, Della, Maxim, and Leonardo, his brother Miguel (Mindy) Gonzalez; his cherished nephew Gavin and a host of uncles, aunts, lifelong friends and respected colleagues. David is also survived by the mothers of his children Juliet, Gianna, and Alison.

David was predeceased by his brother Hiram Gonzalez (d.2023)

Those who knew David will remember him not only for his remarkable legal mind but also for his generosity, humility, quiet strength, and willingness to help others. Whether advocating in the courtroom, advising public officials, mentoring younger attorneys, or spending time with those he loved, David lived with purpose and conviction.

Family and friends are invited and may visit in the Konicek & Collett Funeral Home LLC., 1855 12th Avenue, Watervliet on Monday June 29th from 4pm until 7pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home officiated by Mons. Donald Rutherford on Tuesday June 30th at 10am with interment immediately following in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Konicek & Collett Funeral Home LLC., Watervliet.

David Anthony Gonzalez touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. As we continue to celebrate his life, many of those closest to him reflected on what cause would best honor his memory.
