EAST GREENBUSH- Jane Ann Ward ,92, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her loving family at her side on Saturday morning, January 16, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Born in Albany on September 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Louis G. and Lillian Cramer Heintz. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Albany High School and the Mildred Elley Secretarial School. Following her education, she started a family and as time went on she embarked on a career with Prudential Insurance Company rising through the ranks there and retired after forty plus years as a Field Service Office Supervisor. Jane was a devout person of faith and a long time member of The First Church in Albany and enjoyed the fellowship of the congregation and volunteered at the Food Pantry, serving the community. She was active with a bible study group at the church and enjoyed the love and friendship of her bible study colleagues, Cindy, Denise, Gert, Karen, and Joyce. They brought much joy and helped her through her illness. Survivors include her devoted son, Mark S. (Susan) Fiet, daughter –in-law, Candy (late Jeffrey W ) Fiet, cherished grandsons, Jason (Denise), Matthew(Marcy) , Evan (Christine), Justin (Jamie), Jeffrey, and Kyle, treasured great grandchildren Jake and Julia, Emma Kate and Teagan, and Mason and Cooper. In addition to her parents and son Jeffrey W. Fiet, Jane was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Ward, NYSP (Ret.), and aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to her church family of The First Church in Albany and Rev. Dr. Mashona Walston , Senior Minister for the compassion and concern shown to Jane and also to the Community Hospice for their outstanding care , support and guidance during her final days. Also special thanks to her dedicated care givers Susan and Denise Fiet, her “niece”, Liz Chisholm Coyne, who visited and reminisced with “Aunt Janie”, and her special friend and neighbor, Denice Freschette , for providing food and company during her illness. Graveside services for Jane will be held in the Spring at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Colonie at a date and time to be announced.
