Kelly P. Shufelt

Kelly P. Shufelt age 56 of Watervliet passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2026. Born on October 19th 1969 she was the daughter of Patricia Snover of Watervliet and the late Theodore Shufelt of Florida.

Beloved mother of Kendra (Steven) Nerney and a devoted and proud grandmother of Nikolai Shufelt. Additionally Kelly is survived by her brother Theodore (Linda) Shufelt of Ganesvoort and brother in law Jeff (late Nicole) and beloved aunt of Dalton, Grant, and Emily Shufelt and Austin, Emily, Jacob and Abigail Houser. Also survived by a host of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Kelly was a kind and caring person. During Kelly's sister Nicole's illness she was her caregiver and helped the family recover from her passing by watching over the children. Kelly had a fondness for her step siblings Candice Slingerland, Raymond Slingerland, Michael Smith and David Smith.

Kelly was a friend to many. She held a special bond with Kaye Renfrew who offered Kelly varying support throughout her heroic cancer battle. Kaye was with Kelly when she rang the bell symbolizing her completion of her Chemotherapy.

A graduate of Watervliet High School, Kelly held many different jobs during her working years. Well known for her hard work Kelly will be remembered as a perfectionist never settling for less than perfect. Her stubbornness and grit was a main driver for Kelly during her treatment. The determination to carry through was evident in her struggle with alcohol. Kelly celebrated her 3 year sobriety recently and was proud of her achievement.

Kelly was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and passed her love of the Steelers on to her nephew Jacob.

A funeral mass will be celebrated for Kelly in Trinity Church 1336 1st Avenue, Watervliet Saturday May 2nd at 11am. Family and friends are invited and may visit with Kelly's Family from 9-11am prior to the mass in the church.
