Marvin C. Yost

Marvin "Chris" Yost, 80, died of Alzheimer's Disease on December 8, 2025. After living in Schenectady for most of his life, he spent two years at Elderwood Village at Colonie. He was a long-time member of Christ Church, Schenectady.

Chris was born in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1945 to the late Marvin and Rose Yost. He graduated from Captain Jack Joint Sr. High School in 1963 then served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He had a long career as a metallurgical technician and photographer at GE. He travelled for work to Japan, Korea, and England, and earned several merit awards. A highlight of his career was photographing crystals grown in outer space. Chris later worked at the Schenectady M&P Lab, Empire, and for New York State until his retirement.

In his free time, Chris had a passion for photography, especially for natural landscapes and wildlife. He beautifully photographed family gatherings, life milestones, and special events, preserving those memories for his family and friends. He had two small businesses, Thru the Lens for photography, and Custom Form Shop for personalized gifts and keepsakes. Chris loved the Mets, was an avid reader, kept and bred fish, enjoyed gardening, felt a connection to animals, and delighted in his grandsons.

Chris was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Monica. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Stitt (Ken), daughter Megan Yost (Evan Smith), son Daryl Yost (Katy Hummer), daughter Hillary Wendell (Sean), grandsons Jarod Yost (Sydney Clark) and Aaron Smith-Yost, niece Renee Anderson (Ken), cousin, Mary Louise Hendricksen, and family friend, Elisha Agrelo.

Calling hours will be Sunday, December 14 from 2 to 3 p.m., with a Mass of Christian burial at 3 p.m. Both will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1336 First Avenue, Watervliet, NY.
