Watervliet - Nancy F. Comley, 71, entered into eternal rest on March 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She is the daughter of the late William D. Comley and Frances T. Gendron. Nancy was a graduate of Shaker High School and a retiree from the messenger service of the NYS Legislature. She is survived by her sisters, Sharon (Michael) Kowalski, Mary Beth (Joseph) Knapik, brothers William P. (Mary) Comley, Jeffrey (Janice) Comley, Eric Comley and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy loved her church. She was a daily Mass attendee, greeted those attending Mass at the weekend Masses and kept a vigilant eye on the candles – replacing them whenever necessary. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Rosary Society and volunteered at the Food Pantry.
Aunt Nancy loved her family and kept a detailed log of every birthday, anniversary and every other important milestone in our lives. Everyone was sure to get a card or a gift without fail!!
Nancy loved to garden and to share her harvest with family and friends. It wasn’t a big plot of land but she managed to grow an amazing amount of tomatoes and other vegetables in that small space that she would tend to every day.
Her favorite companion was her cat, Cloud, who rarely left her side, especially when Nancy became ill. Cloud was rewarded for her loyalty with much love and many treats.
Nancy will be missed by all of those that she loved and who loved her. She will be remembered in our thoughts and prayers always.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7th Avenue, Watervliet on Friday, March 10. Visitation will be from 9 to 10am followed by Mass at 10am.
