Richard T. Denue passed away quietly in his home on March 23, 2024 at the age of 86 following a short battle with cancer with his wife Susan Denue at his side and his pet Emma sleeping on his lap.  Born in Troy on November 9, 1937 and raised in Port Schuyler, the son of the late Leo F. and Dorthy (Thorns) Denue, Jr. He was the Grandson of the late Thomas and Mary Thorns and Nephew of the late Bud and Marge McCarthy. 

Richard was a graduate of Watervliet High School 1955. Following his education he worked in the family-owned bowling alley Thorns Colony Recreation. Richard answered his nations call to service and served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958. Richard worked for the North Colonie School District and retired from the Picotte Company as Superintendent of the Schuyler Heights Apartments following a long working career. He was a 31-year volunteer of Schuyler Heights Fire Department and 64-year member of Watervliet-Colonie Elks #1500.  

In addition to his wife Susan, Richard is survived by his son Thomas and daughter Mary (Chuck Byrne) Torrisi. Also surviving; his stepson Brent (Elissa) Tomlinson; grandchildren Paul (Danielle) Torrisi, Alix Denue, Michael and Brendon (Amber) Tomlinson.  Great grandson Anthony Torrisi and several other great grandchildren, brother Jack Denue, and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

Family and friends are invited and may visit with Richard’s family in the Konicek & Collett Funeral Home LLC, 1855 12th Avenue, Watervliet from 5pm until 7pm on Monday April 1st. A prayer service will be held at 10am in the funeral home Tuesday April 2nd followed by interment in Albany Rural Cemetery.
