Robert (Bob) Lowenfels, 70, passed away on Tuesday April 28, 2026. Robert was a 1974 graduate of White Plains High school and received a B.A. in Economics from Columbia University where he was a member of the celebrated Columbia crew team. For over 40 years, Bob was the owner of A & B Solar, a solar installation and repair company in Westchester county, New York.

Bob was the brother, uncle, cousin, or friend who usually exists only in fiction. Loyal, loving and deeply committed, he lived a life of searching, curiosity and concern for friends, family, and our world. He leaves behind his sister Kate Blanas (Jim), his brother Charles Lowenfels (Sheila), and his sister Ann Lowenfels (Steve Redler). He also leaves several nieces and nephews: Nina, Demetri, Joseph, Lincoln, and Doris. Bob was predeceased by his parents Albert and Doris Lowenfels.

Bob fought back hard against mental health issues since the age of eighteen through painting, meditation, kayaking, hiking, indoor rowing, and skiing. Bob was the proud owner of more than 15 pairs of cross-country skis and possibly held the record for most consecutive days of cross-country skiing in New York State. He was the caregiver for both parents during their last years and was always present for all his friends and family. Bob greeted everyone with a cheerful "howdy," even while struggling with many physical and mental health challenges. Family members have always said that "Bob can fix anything" even though some things cannot be fixed. We miss you so much, Bob.

Funeral services will be private.

Donations in Bob's memory can be made to the Adirondack Mountain Club at ADK.org.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Konicek & Collett Funeral Home LLC., Watervliet.
